Kits
A Kit is a set of three Assets for a company that hires without an advert. An Asset is a resume, a cover letter, or an outreach message. You can also use a Kit for a kind of role that you write to without an advert. A Kit holds one resume, one cover letter, and one outreach message. All three are made for the same Angle, under a name that you choose.
If you answer an advert, do not use a Kit. Add the advert as a posting. It then goes on your Pipeline, with Stages and everything else that an Application has. A Kit is for when there is no advert to answer.
Make a Kit
Section titled “Make a Kit”On the Kits screen, click “New Kit”. Give the Kit a name and an Angle. If you have a company in mind, give the company too. Then click “Create and choose bullets”.
The Angle is one line of at most 200 characters. It says the kind of role that everything in the Kit is for, for example “Senior frontend, product-led SaaS, four years”. SuperImpress never prints the Angle and never sends it. Autopilot writes against the Angle in place of an advert. Each version keeps the Angle that it was made from. You can change the Angle later, and the change does not make anything Behind.
The company is optional. If you name a company, it goes in the greeting of a letter or a message. If you do not name a company, a Template leaves the greeting as a prompt for you to write.
You can make a Kit before your Career Record has a bullet. A letter or a message needs only a saved Career Record. A resume needs bullets, because a resume is a Selection of your bullets. Until your Career Record has a bullet, the Kit’s resume slot says “No resume yet: your Career Record has no bullets yet”.
What is in a Kit
Section titled “What is in a Kit”The Kit’s page shows the Angle and the company at the top. Under them are three slots:
- Resume: a Selection that you make in the Selection editor, or that Autopilot or your agent makes. See Resumes.
- Cover letter: a letter that you write on the Kit’s page, or that Autopilot or your agent writes. See Letters and messages.
- Outreach: a message that you write on the Kit’s page, or that Autopilot or your agent writes.
You can start a letter or a message from a blank page, a Template, or an earlier version.
Each slot keeps its own versions, so a new letter does not change the resume. Every version says who made it and when. The Resumes screen also lists a Kit’s resume, under the In a Kit tab.
What a Kit does not have
Section titled “What a Kit does not have”A Kit has no Application and no Stage, so it never appears on your Pipeline. You do not apply to anything with a Kit, and SuperImpress does not know where you send it.
A Kit has no Verdict either. A Verdict is a judgment of an advert against your Career Record, and a Kit has no advert.
Templates in a Kit
Section titled “Templates in a Kit”A Kit knows less than an Application, so a Template leaves more for you to write. The kind of role is always a prompt in brackets, because there is no advert to read it from. If the Kit has no company, the greeting is a prompt too. You cannot save a letter while a prompt is still in it.
When you write a letter in a Kit, the look-up panel has two tabs: Career Record and Angle. The Angle tab shows the Angle and the company.
Behind
Section titled “Behind”A Kit’s resume is Behind when your Career Record changed after its newest version was made. The Kit’s page says how many bullets you added or took out since then. A Behind resume is still honest, because every line on it is still in your Career Record. SuperImpress never makes a new version on its own. See Behind.
Rename or delete a Kit
Section titled “Rename or delete a Kit”Click “Rename” to change the Kit’s name. Two Kits can have the same name. Click “Edit” beside the Angle to change the Angle or the company.
Click “Delete” to delete the Kit. You cannot undo a delete. The delete removes all three slots, every version, and their files. Your other Kits and your Applications stay as they are.
A Kit is free on both Plans, and you can keep as many Kits as you want. When you write everything yourself, you spend no Credits. When Autopilot makes a resume, a letter, or a message in a Kit, it costs Credits, at the same prices as on an Application. See Plans. Your agent does all of it for free.
Your agent
Section titled “Your agent”Your agent can list your Kits and make a Kit. It can rename a Kit, change its Angle or company, and delete it. It can also save a resume, a cover letter, or an outreach message in a Kit. See the Tools reference.
