Applications and Pipeline
When you pursue a Posting, SuperImpress opens an Application for it at the Pursuing Stage. An Application is the place for everything about one Posting that you pursue. It holds the Assets and the Stage. An Asset is a resume, a cover letter, or an outreach message. The Stage shows how far the Application has gone. You cannot take back a pursuit. See Inbox and Verdicts for how to pursue a Posting.
You can also add a posting yourself, for an advert that you found on a site that SuperImpress does not scan. This also opens an Application.
The Pipeline
Section titled “The Pipeline”The Pipeline shows every Application that you have, with one column for each Stage. Its header shows how many Applications are open and how many are closed. Each card shows the company, the role, the number of days at its Stage, and the kinds of Asset that it holds, for example “resume, cover letter”. In each column, the Application that has waited longest is first.
Click a card to open the Application. The Application page shows each Stage, with the day that the Application got there, and the Verdict on the Posting, if there is one. What leads the page depends on the Stage:
- At Pursuing, the “Apply to” card leads. It shows your resume on one line, then three steps: “Download PDF”, “Apply on” the company’s site, and “Mark as applied”. Under it, the cover letter and the outreach message are rows.
- From Applied on, the outreach message leads. The resume and the cover letter are rows under it.
- On a closed Application, all three are rows.
A row with no version shows “Add”. A row with a version shows the version, one line of the text, and “Copy”. Click a row to open it in place, and to write the next version. Click a version, for example “v2”, to see every version.
“Open the Posting” takes you back to the Posting. See Resumes and Letters and messages.
A Posting you found elsewhere
Section titled “A Posting you found elsewhere”Most Applications come from your Inbox. You can also add a posting that you found somewhere else, such as an advert on LinkedIn, a thread on Reddit, or a message from a friend. SuperImpress calls this a Private Posting.
To add a posting, do these steps:
- On the Pipeline, click “Add a posting”.
- Type the company and the title.
- Paste the advert into “The advert, pasted”.
- If you have them, type a location and a link.
- Click “Add and pursue”.
SuperImpress never opens the link. For this reason, you paste the text of the advert.
When you add a posting, you pursue it. There is no Inbox step. The Application opens at Pursuing at once. If you are on Pro with Autopilot on, Autopilot starts the resume, the same as when you pursue from your Inbox.
The card shows a Private mark and the website that the link goes to. The card counts in your Stage totals like every other card.
Only you can see a Private Posting. SuperImpress does not scan it, so it never closes on its own and never changes unless you change it. SuperImpress does not ask whether the role is remote. The location that you type is all that SuperImpress knows about where the work is.
You can edit a Private Posting to correct a bad paste. An edit does not change the Assets that you already made. You can delete a Private Posting only while its Application has no resume, letter, or message. After that, close the Application with a reason. If another posting of yours has the same link, SuperImpress refuses the new one.
Adding, editing, and deleting are free on both Plans. You can add as many postings as you want.
Asking for a Verdict
Section titled “Asking for a Verdict”A Verdict is a judgment of how your Career Record reads against a Posting. Nothing judges a Private Posting on its own, because adding it was your decision. If you want a Verdict, you can ask from the Posting’s page or from the Verdict card on the Application. On Pro with Autopilot on, click “Ask for a Verdict”, and Autopilot writes one for its price in Credits. On both Plans, click “Ask your agent”, and your agent writes one for free.
The Verdict tells you where you stand. It never moves your Application. If you ask again, SuperImpress writes a new Verdict and keeps the old one. A Verdict becomes Stale when you edit the advert, your Target, or your Career Record. A Stale Verdict is one whose inputs changed after it was written. A Private Posting has no Company Brief, because SuperImpress writes Company Briefs only for the companies on its Boards.
Stages
Section titled “Stages”An Application moves through five Stages, in this order:
- Pursuing
- Applied
- Response
- Interview
- Offer
SuperImpress never moves an Application on its own. To move an Application, use one of these ways:
- On the card, open the menu and choose “Move to” the next Stage, or “Back to” the Stage before. “Move to” moves the card at once, dated today. To give an earlier day, choose “Pick a date” and pick the day in the calendar.
- On the Application page, click “Move to” the next Stage, or “Back to” the Stage before.
- Drag the card to another column.
In the dialog, you can choose any other Stage, so you can skip a Stage. For a move forward, the dialog asks “When it got there”. The date is today unless you pick another day in the calendar. You cannot pick a day after today. The Application keeps the day that it got to each Stage.
Move an Application back to undo a mistake. The Application forgets the Stages after the one it goes back to, and their dates. Before you move, the dialog tells you what it forgets. The Stage it goes back to keeps its date. You cannot move a closed Application.
Close an Application
Section titled “Close an Application”To end an Application, click “Close with a reason…”. Choose one reason:
- Rejected
- I withdrew
- No response
- The Posting closed
- I accepted elsewhere
You can add a note of up to 500 characters. The Stage stays at the Stage where you closed it, so a closed Application still shows how far it got. Its Assets stay. You cannot move a closed Application, and you cannot close it again.
Closed Applications
Section titled “Closed Applications”SuperImpress keeps your closed Applications. The Closed column counts them by reason. Click “Show closed” to see each one with its reason, its note, and the day that it closed.
When a Posting closes
Section titled “When a Posting closes”A Scan is one check of a Board for new, changed, and removed Postings. If a Scan no longer finds a Posting that you pursue, the card says so. For example: “This Posting closed on their board yesterday.” Nothing else changes, because only you know whether the hiring process is over. If it is over, close the Application with the reason “The Posting closed”.
Your agent
Section titled “Your agent”Your agent can list your Applications, and move or close an Application for you, under the same rules. It can also add a posting that you found, and write a Verdict on it for free. See the Tools reference.
